Ralph Donald Klann, 90, of Hubbard Lake died Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family. Ralph was born November 19, 1921 in Detroit to Henry and Lillian (Beier) Klann. He served in the US Army during WWII. On May 15, 1948 he married Shirley Ellenich at the Church of Our Savior in Detroit. Ralph was an executive for Chrysler Motors retiring in 1980, then moving to the Hubbard Lake area in 1986. He was a member of the Moslem Shrine Club in Detroit, the ROJ, the Royal Arch, Knights Templar, the Alcona F&AM Lodge # 292, the VFW and the DAV for 55 years and a life member of the Hubbard Lake Sportsman Club He loved living on Hubbard Lake as he would go swimming every day when possible, and he enjoyed spending his time, hunting, fishing and bowling. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Shirley, two sons; Harry (Maury) Klann of Houston, TX, Allan (Patricia) Klann of Warren, MI, three grandchildren; Elyssa, Christopher (Cora), Stephanie and two great-grandchildren; Evan and Jake. He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty and a brother, Charles. Family and friends will gather on Saturday September 1, 2012 at Trinity Episcopal Church from 10:00 am until the time of the memorial service at 11:00 am with Rev. Bruce Michaud officiating. Inurnment will be at the church columbarium. Memorial donations may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church or Hospice of Michigan. The family chose McWilliams Funeral Home – Alpena to assist them.
